As our school grows, so does our staff. We are honored to welcome two new teachers to our middle school team. We look forward to the experience and expertise they bring to our students!
Mrs. Martinez is Ready for Your Essays!
When Stephanie Martinez is not proofreading essays and discussing novels, reading and writing are still a big part of her life, as they are two of her very favorite activities. It is her hope that all of her IVLA middle school students will learn to enjoy literature as much as she does! She will be teaching language arts courses for grades 6-8, as well as some high school electives. In addition, she will serve as a middle school mentor.
After graduating from the University of Miami, Mrs. Martinez started her career as a teacher in a traditional public middle school classroom and continued teaching for seven years before making the decision to stay home and raise her two boys, as well as serving as a part-time tutor. Now that her boys are school age, she is excited to return to teaching and even more excited to do so in a virtual setting, where she can interact with students from so many different places!
Mrs. Martinez lives in Florida with her husband and two sons. As a family, they enjoy going to sporting events and rooting for local sports teams, as well as enjoying beautiful beaches nearby.
Mr. Foltz Thinks Science is out of this World!
Chris Foltz lives in Gainesville, Florida with his wife Jessica and daughter Ella. They enjoy exploring outdoors, playing board games, reading, and going to the beach. Their two dogs, Pluto and Nova, are always up for hitting the trails.
Mr. Foltz is a graduate of the University of Florida with a Bachelor’s degree in Astronomy and minor in Physics. He has a passion for all things science, including science fiction. He is looking forward to instilling a love of science in his IVLA students.
Mr. Foltz is teaching science courses for grades 6-8 and high school science electives and serves as a middle school mentor.
Mr. Foltz and Mrs. Martinez join Lead Teacher James Perkins (middle school history) and JanElle Hoffman (middle school math) to comprise the IVLA Middle School teaching team. Together they work to prepare our middle school students for success in high school and beyond.
