Hi! My name is Marina Gillmore, and I live in the beautiful mountains of Southern California. I work as a high school English teacher and success coach here at IVLA and have worked at all levels of the PK-12 and higher education systems as a teacher, advisor, curriculum developer, literacy and equity coach, and professor. I hold a BA in Literature and History from Claremont McKenna College, a Master’s in Teacher Education from Claremont Graduate University, and a Doctorate in Leadership for Educational Justice from the University of Redlands. I love teaching and enjoy all that I have learned from my students through the years.

When I’m not teaching, I enjoy being outdoors cycling, running, or hiking, hanging out with my amazing family (photos below are on some of my outdoor adventures with my parents), traveling, vegan cooking/baking, writing, and reading. I’m also a pretty big fan of 90s hip-hop, the Beatles, and anything playing on my dad’s turntables when I go home to visit. I’ll never pass up an opportunity to binge-watch old episodes of Friends or The Office, and my favorite places in the world to be are anywhere by the water, on a mountaintop, or curled up on my couch with a good book.
