Oana Rus

Hello! My name is Oana Rus. I have been teaching math for the past 17 years and now for IVLA and I look forward to being your teacher! I understand that math can be a difficult subject and I want to help you succeed and believe in yourself. I have a Master’s degree in abstract Mathematics from the University of Washington, and I am a National Board certified teacher for adult and young adolescents. I also taught quiz sections at the University of Washington. I have been and still am a high school math teacher in Seattle since 2007 teaching a variety of classes ranging from Algebra to AP Calculus. I am originally from Romania and was an international student myself at University of Washington when I moved to the US in 2001. Other than teaching and interacting with my students, I enjoy learning new things, I am an advocate for social justice, I love reading, skiing, animals, technology, dancing, roller skating, badminton, and traveling. I have a teenage daughter myself that will start high school this year and she loves synchronized swimming. I am owned by a beautiful Siberian Forest cat named Starlight, which you might see sometimes.
