Extension Policy

If you think your student will not be able to complete their courses by their end date, please contact their success coach. Your success coach will discuss the student’s options including the possibility of an extension if the student meets the conditions listed below. Extensions are granted on a case-by-case basis and require additional fees. If an extension is needed, the extension fee will be $250 for the first month and $125 for each additional month. After their original end date, students will have a maximum of an additional five months to complete a one credit course and an additional three months to complete a .5 credit course. Extensions must be purchased at least 7 days before the course end date. No extensions will be granted after the course end date.

According to NCAA guidelines, NCAA eligible students will have a maximum of two additional months past their original due date to complete a one credit course and one additional month past their original due date to complete a .5 credit course. Note: 12th grade NCAA students may not extend past June 30th of their graduation year.

If any student fails to complete the course(s) by the end of the maximum extension period, any work not completed will be scored a zero and the student may need to re-enroll in the course at the regular tuition rate. The grade the student earned will be recorded on their transcript. To be considered for an extension, the following conditions must be met:

  1. The student’s grade in the course must be 60% or higher.
  2. The student must have completed at least 30% of the course.
  3. The student must be actively engaged in their coursework. (2 – 3 logins per week during the academic term)
  4. 10-month enrollments with both A and B sections of a course:
    • The 30% rule applies to each .5 credit course. If they have not completed 30% of the B course, they will not be eligible to extend it. The course will be dropped, and an “F” will be recorded on their transcript.
    • .5 credit courses are only eligible to be extended by three months if the student meets the criteria below.

Delays in enrollment due to default tuition payments, perceived difficulty of the course, not earning the desired grade, or not using effective time management skills will not be considered as a basis for an extension. Previous extension approval does not provide basis for future extension requests. For additional extensions to be considered the following conditions must be met:

  1. The student’s grade in the course must be 60% or higher.
  2. The student must be actively engaged in the extended course.
    • 3 – 5 logins per week in the extended course.
    • Completion of work on a regular basis as determined by the teacher of the extended course. c. Ongoing communication with the teacher of the extended course during the extension period.

Your success coach will help you to apply for an extension using this form

This extension policy does not apply to summer courses.

Apostille

An apostille is a process that is accepted by countries that are members of the Hague Convention of 1961 of how to authenticate documents. When a student is seeking an educational opportunity or work abroad, the receiving school, college, or employer may request a verification of the student's educational record. This involves the student acquiring a notarized copy of their high school transcripts from the educational institution issuing the transcript. This notarized record then goes to the California Secretary of State, who issues an Apostille verifying that the signature of the California Notary Public is valid. IVLA can provide you with the notarized documents you need but it is the parent or legal guardian’s responsibility to get the documents apostilled.

Apostille Process

Interest-free payment plans are available to families at IVLA. If a payment plan is chosen, tuition will automatically be charged every 30 days to the credit card on file in accordance with the terms on your tuition agreement. IVLA offers payment plans to our families as a courtesy and may terminate the payment plan at any time if the account is delinquent. You can pay your full balance at any time or make additional payments at any time. If you have any questions about your payment plan or need to adjust the plan, please contact: [email protected].
