At IVLA, our diverse students around the world have an enormous array of goals, interests, hobbies, and ambitions. As is customary in many countries, the majority of our students will continue furthering their education in the fall after their graduation. Others will carry on their current path in pursuit of their passion in sports or the performing arts. Fewer still will take the opportunity to plan for a gap year before they head off to college. Recent graduate, Sydney Fisher, has chosen to do just that. Meet Sydney below and learn all about her plans and aspirations for the next year and beyond.
Hello! My name is Sydney Fisher and I am graduating as part of the IVLA Class of 2022. I ended up at IVLA due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent rocky transition to online learning at my in-person school. I chose IVLA due to its flexibility and opportunities to take advanced classes. IVLA has provided me the opportunity to take 6 AP classes and 3 honors classes over the past two years, which I would not have been able to do at my previous in-person school. During my time here, I have also had the chance to help start and lead numerous clubs. I started Art Club to continue my passion for creating and sharing art with others, and I am really proud of what it has grown into. I have always loved to make art and plan to pursue a degree in architecture. Before I go to college, I will be taking a gap year. I plan to spend the year traveling, volunteering, and learning new skills to prepare me for my future. After I conclude my gap year, I hope to attend the Polytechnic University of Milan in Milan, Italy, and achieve degrees in sustainable architecture and urban planning. I hope to spend my future working around the globe and eventually starting my own green architecture firm! I’m looking forward to exploring the world and doing my part to preserve it for the next generations.
