Live, interactive learning for students who thrive with real-time instruction

Overview

IVLA offers live classes for students in grades K-12, providing structured, real-time instruction in core subjects. With our blended learning model, students have the benefit of synchronous live instruction each week via Zoom combined with a flexible schedule to complete asynchronous class work in their learning management system.

Highlights:

    • Live core classes: English, Math, Science, Social Studies, and Spanish
    • Small class size: 1 teacher for every 15 students
    • Students complete additional work in the LMS alongside attending live sessions

Classes available for Elementary, Middle, and High School students.

Tuition and Course Structure

At IVLA, tuition covers a full academic experience with both live instruction and independent coursework. Students benefit from small group learning in their core subjects and have the opportunity to customize part of their schedule through an asynchronous elective. Our program is designed for students who thrive with live, interactive teaching while maintaining flexibility to complete additional coursework independently.

Class Placement

At IVLA, students are placed into live classes based on their grade level to ensure a consistent academic experience among peers.

FAQ's About Live Classes

How long are the live classes?
Each subject area has 1 hour of class, once a week
How many live classes will I have each week? When will they be?
  • All students will have 4 live classes in their core subject areas and 1 asynchronous course.  Each student will have a total of 4 hours of live classes per week.
  • Elementary and Middle School students will have classes for 1 hour once per day on Monday-Thursday.
  • High School students will have two subjects for one hour each on Tuesdays and Thursdays (2 hours each day with a break in between).
Are there late penalties for overdue work?
Students will have at least one week from the date of assignment (the day their live class meets) to complete the assigned work for the week. After the due date passes, students will receive a 10% deduction in their grade for the assignment per school day. Work incomplete 1 week after its due date will be assigned a zero.
What is the attendance policy?
  • Attendance is a requirement and a part of the grade in all IVLA live classes. Students are allowed a total of 3 unexcused absences. Any additional absences will only be excused with a doctor’s note or similar.
  • Students who do not attend at least 75% of their live course sections (i.e. 27 of 36 live classes for a 1.0 credit class, 13 of 18 live classes for a 0.5 credit class) will receive a 25% reduction in their final grade.
Can I take AP, honors level, and dual enrollment courses?
  • Students can take honors level courses with their live classes. They will attend the same class as their regular level peers, but be assigned honors level course work for their asynchronous work.
  • AP classes and dual enrollment classes with ASU are not part of our live program, but students may consider taking one of these classes as one of the asynchronous electives.
  • Honors, AP, and dual enrollment all incur additional fees as posted on our tuition page
What if the live classes I need based on my course history do not line up with the live class schedule for my grade level?
At this time, live classes are not offered a la carte. In extenuating circumstances, if your class needs are different than what we have assigned for your grade level, we can do our best to mix and match, but you may run into overlaps and conflicts that cannot be accommodated. If this is the case, please try our asynchronous program, which has ultimate flexibility!
What curriculum options do I have for live classes?
  • High School and Middle School live classes will use our Apex curriculum, which also has the added benefit of NCAA eligibility. Elementary school classes will use the Accelerate curriculum.
  • Students may choose to take their one asynchronous course in the same curriculum as their live classes or in our eDynamics curriculum. If you’d like to add any of our other curriculums for this class, you may do so at an additional fee.
